Left breast bigger than right breast

Hi there,

I am 32 years old, 5 months postpartum and noticed the past month that my left breast is bigger than the right breast, I feel like its swollen too and tender and when I wear any sort of bra it's feel tighter on that side. My baby has been formula fed from birth not breast fed.

I have spoken to doctors and seen them and they have said that this could be hormonal changes after giving birth.

I struggle with health anxiety and this plays on my mind and I'm constantly looking at my breasts and the size difference.

Has anyone else experience this?

  • Hi

    Congratulations on your baby.

I'm sorry you are feeling anxious about this.

Whilst I have not experienced this myself I think if you are concerned you should contact your GP again for a review if there has been no improvement. Ask to see a different GP if you would feel more comfortable.

Our breasts do change over time and particularly if you have recently had a baby so this is likely to be normal and related to hormones. However if you have any changes to your breasts it is important to get them checked and then you will have peace of mind and able to enjoy time with your baby.

Hope you get on OK xx

  • Hi how are you now? I have a similar situation in that one of my breasts is also now larger than the other and has not always been the case. Xx
