New to chat

Just wanted to say hello....recently diagnosed with grade 2 hormone receptive, HER2 negative breast cancer, contained and Lumpectomy scheduled in a week and a half...its been reassuring to read the posts here as I'm hoping to have short round of radiotherapy and go on tamoxifen afterwards, so its good to know what to expect from people actually experiencing it....Stay strong everyone.....let's kicksome ***!

  • Hi there ...

And welcome to our little chat room ... I had a grade 3 breast cancer oestrogen positive her 2 negative..  lymph node clear .. so very Simerla to you .. that was in 2017 .. my aunty got the same a few months later only a couple of lymph nodes were positive too .. I had a complete right masectomy...  so did my auntie ... I didn't have treatment with radiotherapy as my bones are very weak due to arthritis... my aunt did as she had positive lymph nodes ...

Wer both still here and doing well .. think we were both positive about it all .. just got our pink vertual boxing gloves on and got in the ring, to punch it right back ... looking back the scariest time is waiting for treatment to start .. it's like jumping on the scariest rollercoaster ever,  and not knowing when you can get off , or where it's taking us .. but wer all on there together ... treatments have come a long way ..

That doesn't mean we don't have huge wobbles ... I spent 2 days locked away cussing cancer and crying it all out .. but really it was so good to get it all out .. and get back up to box again ...

I look at my scar where my boob used to be... and you know I'm quite proud of it ... it tells the story of my journey with cancer ... and it tells me to take each day as a bonus ... I look at life differently now .. little things don't bother me ... and I try to find something to smile at every day ...

So welcome aboard... you can do this ... being brave is being scared witless but you do it any way... sending a vertual hug.... Chrissie x

  • Thanks Chrissie......definitely agree that getting feelings out helps loads. I wrote down everything I was scared of and looking back at them helped me deal with what was in my mind. I'm quite a fit person so I'm keeping up my running and walking before surgery (on my own as isolating) and that's helped too. I dont doubt that I'll be back to my walking soon after surgery and Drs are encouraging that I do.....wishing you all the best.
