Painful lump

Found a lump in my left breast, midway from nipple to arm pit. Painful, with arm numbness/weird discomfort  . Went to GP she prescribed antibiotics just in case it is an infection and put threw an urgent scan. My family has had some issues recently and I've been hiding it because I don't want to unnecessarily worry them because it could be something or nothing. But now I'm worried about the GPS urgency.

3 days on antibiotics- pain is worse and now it feels like a needle stabbing me threw nipple.

anyone else experienced similar ?

    Hi Orange_paper,

    Welcome to our forum,

I am sorry to hear symptoms and the fact that the pain in your breast has got worse since you've been on antibiotics. Please don't worry about the urgency of your GP's referral for a scan. Nearly all possible breast cancers are tested as a matter of urgency, because the earlier a cancer is caught the better the outcome usually is. Have you got a date for your scan yet? It will usually come through within 2 weeks.

The one good thing about what you describe is that breast cancer is not usually accompanied by pain.  Another is that of all the people referred to the breast clinic, only 1 person in every 8 will be given a positive diagnosis. It is very difficult to deal with this all on your own. Most people wait until they're sure that it is cancer before telling family and frieds. In the meanwhile we are alays here for you.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much for your reply. No scan date as of yet, but it's early days and I still have a few days of antibiotics to go. Nothing really to do but wait and monitor for changes. Easier said than done lol

thank you for your support x

    Hi,

I know that it's hard to take your mind off the wait. Try to keep yourself as busy as you can. This doesn't all have to be work related, do things that you enjoy doing. Even doing a jigsaw, can help.

    Kind regards,
