Stage 4 High grade ovarian cancer - here if you want to talk

Hello All,

Wanted to say hi to everyone on the forum. I'm nervous and scared about my future but I'm sure we are all in a similar place. I'm here if you want to talk or have a moan. Covid 19 has really isolated us in terms of outside support groups etc which we do desperately need. Anyway, im having a CT scan on the 23rd and meeting surgeon for first time the day after. I've just finished my 3rd chemo and feeling pretty crap. Being positive is hard. Being bitter is easier. Anyway sending love and hugs to all. X

  • Hello N21,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. There are quite a few of us Stage 4-er's around here so do stick around. We all try to help and support each other when things get hard or just with general tips and advice.

I take it your diagnosis is Stage 4 ovarian cancer? What chemo are you having? I'm week seven into an eighteen week course of low dose Paxlitaxel. I know how you feel. Some days I don't think I can take anymore. I have breast cancer spread to bones and liver after eight years clear. I also have hormone and bone treatment. 8 could hardly believe it when it came back. I guess yours came back also?

Hope you have support around you and that you get more replies. I am on here most days if you want to chat.

  • Hi Ceyenne,

Yes, stage 4 ovarian. I'm a Brca1 and had a double mastectomy back in 2008. My younger sister died back in 2000 when her BC came back. Mum has been lucky. Nearly 30yrs and still with us after BC.

Last few yrs feeling awful. So in Jan 20 asked GP for CA125 test. It came back over 2000. Scans biopsy etc later they misdiagnosed. Ended up having a diagnosis laparoscopy which looks like a hystertectomy scar! In absolute disgust asked for a transfer of hospitals. Got lucky and moved to mums in London. 6cycles with ta xol and Carbo. Scan next week and appt to talk about surgery as I may need debulking. They're also suggesting PARP. I have 1 son of 13 and to know how low our survival rate is breaks my heart. I wish I had not just stopped with the double mastectomy and gone ahead with the radical hysterectomy too. I'm gutted. X

  • Do look up Kim Gray: story of ovarian cancer. Just seen it and it offers hope.

So sorry to hear about your sister but twenty years is a long time in oncology and treatments are bound to have come on a bit. I know it's hard to believe when we hiit our darkest hours.

I'm not a doctor but I'm sure I saw something about nearly all Stage 4 ovarian cancers being eligible to go into remission? The nurses on the forum here would know more.

Please don't get the gloomies. I'm sending you a friend request. It does sound like you are having good treatment.
