HPV positive but not enough cells to test for abnormalities

Hello all,

I am really hoping to receive some advice. I had my first smear in 2017 and apparently they didn't test for HPV then so was told I had no abnormal cells. I have a smear two weeks ago and have received a letter saying I have HPV but they couldn't test the cells as they didn't have enough of a sample. They have said to get tested again in three months. I have bad health anxiety and I'm so worked up.
A nurse said it I may have had HPV before but never picked it up in a test but this made me worry more as that means it's been there 3 years and now I'm thinking what if it never clears and I have to be worried like this continuously.
I've been in the same relationship for 5 years so I don't understand how I can have it now.

Any reassurance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
