Terribly worried

I have been getting burning in the area to the right of my stomach for the past month or so. This started after I had been really worried about the Covid pandemic. The tests I have had so far via my GP- a raft of blood tests, urine tests, abdominal ultrasound, chest x-ray, and two bowel cancer screening tests - have all come back clear. I have gone to a private consultant and had a MRCP MRI scan and that too has shown nothing except a small hiatus hernia. I’m waiting for an endoscopy in early July but am really worried that there will be something really serious found. I’ve continued to have this strong burning and my GP gave me Omeprazole in case I have an ulcer which made me feel much worse. He’s now prescribed Gaviscon in the interim because you have to come off PPIs before an endoscopy. My concerns are - will leaving 4 weeks before the endoscopy cause things to get much worse, for example a perforated bowel and would the medical doctors have left me to wait if it was an emergency?

  • Hi Joy and welcome to the forum.

I noticed you haven't had a reply yet so I just wanted to stop by and wish you good luck with your upcoming endoscopy and give you our nurses telephone number so you can discuss your concerns with them. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Fingers crossed everything will be o.k

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Joy.

I understand what your going through I have had terrible pains in my stomach for 16 weeks now and have the burning sensation in that area. I am also prescribed omeprazol, but symptoms worsing means that through now being constantly sick I now can't even keep these down. I am awaiting a ctcolonoscopy and CT abdoscan. I do have faith in the GP and the Hospital and do believe that they would not want us to be in pain and would see us if things got worse. I would like to hope that you can take a little comfort that from the tests you have had and that nothing was found that things will be ok, but I do understand your fear and hope it will all turn out ok for you.

    Xx

  • Hi Canvey44

Thank you so much for your message and I’m sorry to hear that you have been in pain for so long. I hope your CT tests can be done soon. I am fortunate that I have been able to have some tests done so quickly but the worst thing is waiting and wondering what is causing this pain which I find makes you think of all sorts of terrible things. Good luck for the future. X

  • Hi Joy.

Thanks for your reply I hope so too, your right I've been thinking all sorts of outcomes too and getting myself upset thinking of terrible things. I think it's good to talk to people on here who understand what it's like to go through it.

Thanks for your wishes of luck, same to you I wish you all the best. X
