    Hi Yogabuff,

Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear of your symptoms. Have you mentioned how you are feeling to your care team? I am not a doctor, but I understand that both of these drugs can cause extreme tiredness and nausea. Have you been given a specialist nurse who you can contact with any concerns?  There are a number of medications which can help with your nausea. If one type doesn't work, ask to try another one, as they can control nausea.

I am the same age as you, and have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years. I have now stopped taking all medication for cancer, but I did have terrible problems with utter exhaustion when I was taking Letrozole and Tamoxifen. I took this badly, because, like you, I was always on the go and very seldom sick. I stopped taking Letrozole in July 2017 and, it is only within the last couple of years that I've begun to pick up again.

The one thing I did find was, that I had to give in to this exhaustion, as I could fall asleep in the middle of a television programme, film or play, on a bus, train or in a car. I was on a number of committees and had to prime someone to nudge me whenever I started to drop off.

I sincerely hope that you will be around for many years to come, but be kind to yourself. Do please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Yogabuff,

yes you hear that chemo will make you tired, but until you get there do you begin to appreciate the devastation that is taking place within your body. Its a battlefield and you are waging chemical war against the most determined opponent without the benefit of all your troops being issued with protection,so your personal loss is not far behind that of your opponent. And you ask why you are utterly exhausted?.The only upside is to imagine what it is doing to your visitor and take comfort in that there are no free rides for this interloper

l think your ambition is wonderful, your determination inspiring, and hopefully your ability to give yourself a chance to recover properly will improve as you move forward towards recovery

Trust me when l say chemo knocks the stuffing out of those who still have 50 years to go to catch up to you,so l think you are doing as well as all of us that have been or are going through treatment,

so keep on the move, give your body the rest it needs, get medication for the nausea, and find ways to make the things you enjoy doing that little bit easier,

                                                                                                          take care,

                                                                                                                            David

  • Hi there.
Thankyou for such a wonderfully detailed explanation. I always think in pictures so can fully understand your description. Maybe I'm being too impatient (story of my life) I thought I would feel better after a couple of days following treatment. Good luck with everything & stay safe.
