Meningioma diagnosis

Hi guys

literally got a call from my doc today after an MRI yesterday that they have found a small tumor about the size of a grape and I have spent the day crying! It comes on the back of headaches for the past few months so I asked for the mri but now I am totally freaking out- she has said it is low risk and I am waiting on the next app to look into in more detail. It's my first time here so would love some advice please I have a little girl only 1 and I'm so upset

  • Hello Pammytree2020 and welcome to the forum.

I'm very sorry to hear that you've been given this news. Undoubtedly it will have been a great shock and it's understandable that you're feeling upset.

Meningiomas are usually low grade tumours that are slow growing and unlikely to spread which is why you've been told that there is low risk. However I know that you will still be feeling very concerned about things. Hopefully your next appointment will give the team more information that will answer your questions and give you some more reassurance.

You may want to have a little look at the information about meningiomas on The Brain Tumour charity website. I've linked it for you here

You're also very welcome to call and speak to one of our nurses. I'm sure that they will be able to offer you some advice and support while you're waiting now for your next appointment.
    They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch with us and let us know how you get on and we'll do our best to help and support you.

    Best wishes,
