Tamoxifen side effects

Hi all,

This is my first time in any forum chatroom, I have been reading from afar and found lots of answers to my questions on here since being diagnosed with Dcis in March. I'm now 10 wks post masectomy and healing well, unfortunately I could not have reconstruction straight away due to Covid but I'm hoping I should get a date before the end of the year.

I just wondered if anybody else has suffered from this, I have recently started taking Tamoxifen (I'm on about day 40 ) since starting to take it I have gelled my nails at home using the same uv lamp and gels I have used for the passed 5 years with no problem, however since taking tamoxifen everytime I do my nails my fingers become very itchy and I have small blisters appear by the cuticle area. It's very uncomfortable but does calm down after about 48hrs. Has anyone else experienced this and do you know of any hack to try and stop it from happening.

Thank you in advance

  • Hi Scp2014

Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear that you've needed surgery for DCIS but it's great to hear that you're healing well.

We lots of ladies here who take Tamoxifen but I can't say that I know of anyone mentioning problems with blistering skin. It may be worth giving your BCN a quick call to ask her advice.

I do hope that your recovery continues to go smoothly.

    Best wishes,
