HPV and low grade dyskaryosis

Hi there,

at the begging of this year I had a smear screening and I found out that I have low grade dskaryosis and Hpv I know that they are not cancerious cells and I'm having colposcopy tomorrow morning I was supposed to be having the colposcopy in March but because of the corona virus it got cancelled and I'm worried if it hasn't gone untreated until tomorrow will it have affected on my results and my cells?

thank you

joanne

  • Hi Joanne

This delay should not have had any adverse effect on your cell changes. Low grade cell changes can often revert to normal in time, so you may not need any treatment and they will just monitor you. I hope your colposcopy goes well today.

  • Thank you so much for your reply Minska I really appreciate what you have said to me yes it went very well today the nurse said to me that I have a ectopy and low grade cin I have to have an other smearing screening next year to see if it has cleared on its own but thank you again Minska.

  • Hi Joanne

I’m so pleased for you and glad you came back to let us know how you got on. Hopefully the CIN will have cleared itself when you go back and you’ll have no further issues. This was a really good result for you today, so I hope you can relax now!

  • Hi Minska,

yes I finally had some good news today and it has taken a lot of weight of my mind yes I can finally relax now yes I'm hoping it will go away on it's own by the time I have my smear screening next year this is why I would recommend that women should have the smear screening in case things like this happens or even worse it's worth it if it can save lives thank you again for your reply.

  • Hi Joanne

Low grade changes often clear themselves, especially in young women, and it’s reassuring to know you will have another screening in a year to check again. You are of course absolutely right in saying everyone should attend their smear tests as this allows any kind of changes to be picked up early and dealt with simply. I can’t look back now and kick myself for not attending regularly as what’s done is done for me, but I could have saved myself a great deal of grief if I had gone for regular smears. I’m an example of what can happen when you don’t, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. x

  • Hi again Minska,

yeah exactly it is worth having it done I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through a great deal of grief I'm the same as you I wouldn't go myself for regular check ups until I heard about a friend of a friend who like me kept putting it off she finally went to have it done and found out that she had cervix cancer and it was too late she sadly lost her life and she was the same age as me and that made me change my mind about putting it off and I wouldn't wish that on anyone x.

  • Hi Joanne

I’ve had cervical cancer twice in the last 2 years and had major surgery 3 months ago after having chemo, radiation and a failed hysterectomy. I’m still here, and things are getting better but my life and body are changed forever. I’m just glad I’m still alive! x

  • Hi Minska,

im so sorry to hear that you have gone through that twice it just goes to show you how strong you are and that you're a fighter and it means that you're still meant to be on this earth if you need to talk to anyone you're always welcome to message me or post in this thread x

  • Hi Joanne

Thank you so much for your kind words. I had a total pelvic exenteration 3 months ago and the full recovery time from that is a year so I’ve a way to go, but they got all my cancer out so I’m very grateful.

Bad day yesterday for me as I had a blockage in my colostomy (I have a colostomy and urostomy now) with a lot of pain but thankfully it’s easing today. Likewise, if you need a chat feel free to post or message.x

  • Hi Minska
