Peritonial omental disease

My wife had breast cancer last year which we believed had been resolved. However past few weeks sheeshe increasing abdominal discomfort resulting in her being admitted to hospital with abdominal distension subsequently drained 6 litres of fluid and conclusion cancer in abdomen.

We've been waiting since Tuesday for results and treatment plan only to be told today their awaiting further tests on aspirated fluids to confirm if cancer primary or secondary to previous breast cancer now won't find out for another week!

She's now becoming increasingly uncomfortable  as before now frightened c/o new cancer diagnosis

I'm going out of my mind, unclear as to treatment options (if any) and is the waiting going to have detremental impact.

Just needing to share as searching Google  simply scares me all negative

  • Hello Kenty,

A big welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your wife and the current uncertainty surrounding her diagnosis. It must be so uncomfortable for her. The wait for results can feel agonizingly long and it's normal to feel that you are going out of your mind not knowing what to expect. It can indeed be tempting during this long wait for answers to consult Dr Google but you are absolutely right that it is famously unreliable and that it tends to give you only the worst case scenarios so it's a good idea to stay away from it if you can.

I hope you won't have to wait too long now to find out more. If you felt the need to talk to someone about all this, don't hesitate to give our nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Best wishes to you and your wife,
