I have to have a 2nd breast biopsy

Hi I'm new here

I had to have a core needle breast biopsy after finding a lump. It took a week to get the results back and I got a call today saying that some of the biopsy came back as normal breast tissue but some seemed abnormal and were inconclusive. So they want to do more tests and another biopsy. I am only 24 and so worried. They said I should get an appointment in 7 days. It's all the waiting that makes me overthink.

I'm still very bruised from the first biopsy and I have 2 incisions that are still a little tender, will the biopsy be painful this time round? It was okay the first time but I'm thinking with all the current bruising it may hurt or hurt more afterwards.

    Hi Puppies,

Welcome to oour forum. I am sorry to hear that the tests you had at the breast clinic were inconclusive. It is always a worry when this happens, but it is a fairly frequent occurrence. Having a biopsy taken is a bit like giving blood - it all depends on how skilled the person doing it is at that procedure. Your breasts are usually a little tender after a biopsy, so I expect that having a second biopsy may mean that it will take a little longer for your breast to settle.

I took Arnica tablets immediately after my biopsies and, you could hardly see any bruising as a result. Have a word with your consultant about this and, see if s/he is happy about this, then give them a try if you get the ok. Try to steer clear of Google, as this will only serve to scare you further.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
