Hi all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself properly as I've been lurking for a few days.

Hi again Kimmie,
Although I've spoken to you on Sunscared's post I just wanted to get your post to the top of the page so others will see it.

Thanks Angie.
I've seen you post quite a bit so thank you for supporting so many people x
Hi Kimmie,
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer within the past 11 years. Early last year I had 3 suspected melanoma - one just below my eye, one on my back and one just above the inside of my ankle.
My dermatologist and plastic surgeon were convinced that they were all cancerous, so I had a wide local excision on all. There was really nothing to this. I had a local anaesthetic near the lesions and, the suspect area removed. All have healed well. It is almost impossible to see the scar on my face. The only one that took a little longer to heal was my ankle. I needed an antibiotic for this, but it is fine now. Fortunately, none of them were cancerous in the end.
Can I ask whereabouts your lesion is and, whether it is being treated by a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon? It can take a while to get an appointment with either of these professionals, as they are always so busy. I sincerely hope that all goes well for you.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi Jolamine,
I'm being treated by the dermatology dept and also got a call from the plastic surgery dept today.
I already had an excision but I have to have a further 2cm all round excision and SLNB too.
I am hopeful that they find that they can close the wound with stitches but have been advised that they are more likely to need to do a skin flap or a graft.
Tbf they have all been so fast and I'm getting calls every other day!
Hi Kimmie,
It sounds as if you are in the best of hands. By the way, don't be surprised if the moderators remove the name of your hospital from your post - one of the rules of the site is that we cannot post the names of our hospitals. I do so hope that your surgeon can manage to close your wound with stitches. I was told that I would definitely need a skin graft on my face and, that it would be difficult to do, as the skin under my eye was so soft and thin. In the end, my plastic surgeon stitched it up with tiny stitches and, I doubt that you'd notice anything awry if you were to look at me.
It's hard to keep up with all that is happening when it is all occurring so fast. when did you have your previous surgery? It is always a worry when they have to go in again, but you need to be sure that they've got it all out.
I hope that you don't have long to wait until you get your final surgery and, I hope that it all goes well.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Oh I didn't realise! Oops! There were a lot of things to read.
My surgery was just over 3 weeks ago and I got the results after 2 weeks. I got 4 different calls on Thursday from various people and got a call today from the plastic surgery dept.
I'll know when my surgery is by the middle of this week.
So fast!!
Hi Kimmie,
Don' worry. I was just giving you the heads up before it happens. Yes, there are a lot of phone calls in the first few weeks. I'm glad to her that you should have your date for surgery by the middle of this week. I'm sure that you feel that the sooner it's over the better. I certainly felt like that.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Yes and the sooner I can stop worrying about whether it has spread or what the scarring is going to look like.
Stay safe x
Hi Kimmie,
If you've got a plastic surgeon on board, your scarring should be negligible. Here's hoping that there is no spread.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
