    Hi Yatesy,

Welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry to hear of the reason that you've joined us. Many people seem to think that they cannot see their GP's during this pandemic, but this is not the case. Give your GP's receptionist a call and explain your symptoms. She should give you an emergency appointmet. Most GP's are carrying out telephone consultations, but they can still see patients if needed and, it sounds as if this may be what you now need.

If there is the slightest chance of cancer, you will be referred to the hospital for further tests. Please try not to google, as much of the information is out of date, poorly researched or innaccurate and aimed at the spectacular. This will only scare you further. I am not a doctor, but from the symptoms you describe, this could be something as simple as tonsillitus.

Please let us know how you get on. we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for your reply i have another phone call consultation tomorrow morning so fingers crossed they will agree to see me. I have googled myself into a blind panic will keep you updated thanks again for you reply much appreciated xx

    Hi Yatesy,

I hope that your phone consultation tomorrow goes well. Make sure that yet your GP know what you fear it is. This might encourage them to see you in person.

This is the trouble with Google. It throws all sorts of nasty suggestions at you and, feeds your imagination to run riot - try to steer clear.

I've got my fingers crossed that it's something more straightforward.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Yatezy_85,

I'm so sorry to hear you  have been in such discomfort. For what it's worth I'm in a similar boat. I had a sore throat for about 6 weeks at the start of lock down, then it finally went away. I was so happy but now it has returned. I have seen doctors and had a neck ultrasound and bloods taken everything normal. No one has looked at my throat apart from my dad who is GP in Aus and he has reassured me that it is nothing nasty just viral but I just can't help but wonder that it has gone on for so long it must be nasty ...

I think you should try and speak with you Dr surgery they might not see you because of the Covid but they may ask for a picture of your throat. They can tell alot by that.

Also my Dr and my Dad said that their isn't enough data on Covid so it could be a mild lingering form of that? I haven't had a fever but it is a strange beast.

I hope you feel better soon and try to avoid google. I'm shocking for it and have gotten myself into quite a state. I'm 34 btw
