Lump under jaw

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and looking really for support and reassurance. I found a 2cm lump that seems attached to the mandibular, hard but think slightly movable. Called my GP why suggested stones but since I have private insurance contacted an ENT consultant who advised a US and a FNA. At the US the radiologist's opinion was mixed up and detected that something was not good, got to meet the ENT consultant the next day who says that the radiologist saw a suspicious mass under the submandibular area. I went into depression mode right away. I feel some tightness in my neck and has some pain prior last week which has now subsidised but feel something piling my neck still. Will have an MRI this week and convinced that this is a cancer somewhere, I am distraught to say the least. Any other who had or is having the same symptoms?

    I have exactly the same symptoms I'm only 21 my dr won't Evan feel it it's really scaring me have you got an update hope your well

    Hi Natasha, after two scans, two biopsies, an MRI and a PET scan they still couldn't give me a definitive diagnosis, they were saying that it was suspicious of lymphoma. I finally had surgery to remove the lymph node in September and waited over four weeks to finally hear that it was benign, it was a pseudo tumor, an idiotic growth of cells in the lymph node. So don't worry it can be anything that is NOT cancer, even the PET scan picked up an SUV of over 14 which is strongly indicative of cancer but it wasn't and since there was a lot of inflammation it was misdiagnosed. The only drawback is that they discovered a mass in my chest which revealed to be a Thymoma. I had this removed three weeks after my initial surgery.

    hope all the best for you and don't worry although it is difficult I know, the waiting is the worse.

    Hi I was reading your story my daughter has a hard non movable lump feels like bone attached to her jaw she already has kidney disease at first the dr said it was maybe a lymph node and to get it checked in 2 weeks so we did gp said the same then we went for routine bloods to check her kidneys and I asked her consultant to feel it , he wasn't convinced it was a lymph node as it's more toward the front of jaw and is very hard non movable with that we see max fax and they ordered and urgent X-ray and then an opg which showed the lump now we're waiting for a ct I'm going out of my mind with worry

    ThAnkyou so much I'm glad you have answered and it's being sorted I'm just very worried as mine doesn't hurt and it's been large for about 6 months and it's quite big I also feel very ill all the time but worrying is making that a lot worse I had an abscess on that side so I'm thinking it might have been that that triggered it I've got an appointment Tuesday and I'm really really scared I feel very depressed and scared my dr won't take me seriously as I need answers I will drive myself insane otherwise convincing myself I'm going to die
