Fibroadenoma/ Biopsy Pain

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all staying safe. I'm not really sure if this is the best place to ask but anyway. I have a fibroadenoma in my right breast (discovered purely by chance as I originally went to the doctors for eczma - but there you go) and even though I am under 30 the doctor wanted to do a biopsy of it. Luckily it came back clear and they said the fibroadenoma has well defined edges not craggy which can be a worry. This was in March last year by the way.

Anyway yesterday and today I have been getting aching pains in that area they come on all of a sudden then go very quickly, I understand that this can be hormonal but I am not on my period, I just wondered is this normal even a year after a biopsy? And can a fibroadenoma change shape or be aggravated by diet/exercize/certain activities? Should I be getting an ultrasound of the area periodically to check for changes?

I have had pain in the area very occasionally before when breasts sore due to period  but not for months so it feels very out of the blue. Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks for reading!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some new breast symptoms that are giving you concern. It's good to hear that your appointment last year was so reassuring.

Whilst routine monitoring of fibroadenomas is not something that's needed it is sensible to talk to your GP about any changes. Surgeries are still very much open for business during the Corona virus pandemic, albeit that things may be working differently, so do give your surgery a call when you're able to.

    Best wishes,
