Hi everyone! ️
My name is Rachel, I’m 30 years old and currently being investigated for suspected Lymphoma.
I have been following the forums since I found my first neck lump in March. It’s been a really reassuring place reading people’s stories, especially the good news and it gives me a lot of hope
Here is my story so far, I’m hoping when this eventually gets updated it will be good news to give others hope too.
So this all started at the start of March. I had just returned from my honeymoon when I noticed a lump on the right side of my neck. My ENT has informed me this is a level 5 lower cervical node. It started as a pea sized hard unmoveable lump.
I self monitored it at home for 4 weeks due to COVID. Finally on the 1st April I decided to ring my GP as it had grown substantially in those 4 weeks.
I had bloods and he referred me for an ultrasound within a week. My bloods came back with low RBC and particularly high protein.
It is now 4 weeks later (8 weeks since the first lump was discovered) and I now have 4 large hard lumps. No tenderness or pain. The largest feels around 2.5cm and the others somewhere between 1-2. But I haven't seen the US report to give the exact.
For anyone wanting a background of symptoms, I am very fit, I had been training for the last 2 years 6 days a week. No colds or flus and haven’t been sick since probably October last year when I had a mild cold.
I have been suffering with a significant weight loss due to nausea, no appetite, I have extreme chills in the day which are debilitating to the point I need to huddle up in bed to stop the backache, no night sweats but extreme hot flashes which last around 10 mins every half an hour. I have extreme tiredness, napping in the afternoon and extremely lightheaded and dizzy which I expect is due to anemia.
After my ultrasound I was informed a biopsy will be undertaken in Manchester tomorrow via ultrasound guided FNA.
I have requested my ultrasound as I have no idea on size etc I haven’t been told any details as the sonographer stayed silent throughout and said my doctor would be in touch.
So right now I’m just waiting around for more information! I’m hopeful though, I have a 7 year old little girl who I’m homeschooling at the minute and is quite aware mummy isn’t very well.
It’s a difficult time for everyone looking for answers due to covid at the minute and I feel quite alone in terms of testing and waiting around as no friends to call upon for a coffee or a chat for comfort or to take my mind off it. I’m hoping this forum will help.
Good luck to everyone facing uncertainty and best health wishes to you all.
Lots of love,
Rachie G
P.s anyone have a realistic idea of biopsy result waiting time? Thank you xx
