Hi - diagnosed with JAK-2positive Essential Thrombocythaemia

Hi I have just been diagnosed with JAK-2positive essential  thrombocythaemia. I am on Hydroxycarbamide, 500 mg daily, and my platelet levels are coming down. I had a phone comsultation with my consultant 2 weeks ago  and he is happy with my blood counts. The nurse came to my house to take bloods. I will see the consultant  again in 3 months.

I have had a letter from the hospital telling me to shield for 12 weeks which I am doing.

Thank heavens for online deliveries,  as I live on my own since my husband died of cancer.

Have read lots of posts  on here, and have to say feeling really positive.Thank you everyone.

The side effects I get are a wheezing  chest, but apart from that touch wood everything  ok.
