Lymph nodes back of neck

My baby boy is 9 weeks old and for the last few weeks now he's had swollen lymph nodes on what could either be top of neck (at the back) or behind his ears in that area anyway.

on one side they are quite small and the other side 1 in particular is quite large. They are all moveable and not really hard. We have been to the doctors about him constantly having a blocked nose at night and he's got a slight case of cradle cap aswell on the scalp. The doctor wasn't concerned and said they would go naturally but didn't say anything else. I am worried the length of time they've been there and not going down. He is well feeding etc and no symptoms other than the blocked nose and scalp issues.

any info would be really appreciated. Right now the last place we want to keep going is to the doctor with the current situation with Covid-19

  • Hi

We had the same experience with my little boy. He had swollen glands exactly how you explain from a very young age. He’s now 6 and they are still there.

He had blood tests etc about 3 years ago and everything clear. We were also in A&E recently (for something completely different) and a doctor mentioned he had had swollen glands to his neck and under arms (I’d never noticed this). He said it was nothing to worry about, especially as they are moveable.

obviously if it’s worrying you you should get it checked out once COVID has settled but please take some comfort from what i’ve said.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby x

  • Thank you for your reply... I forgot to mention when he was born he was in intensive care for a week... during that time he had endless blood tests.. lumbar puncture an mri scan you name it he had it. Even a chest X-ray so that makes me think anything sinister would have shown then not much would develop in 9 weeks I wouldn't have thought. It's just so annoying him having these swollen glands and constantly worrying about them.
