Lump in right upper abdomen

Hi all,

I have been suffering with gastric issues since December 2019, been diagnosed with acid reflux but now my stools have become pale and loose and I have the odd nauseous feeling and have little to no appetite. I have recently found a lump in my right hand upper stomach and with the other issues went into complete panic mode and worst case senario. I visited A&E because my symptoms were getting worse and my doctor doesn't seem to be taking me serious, almost brushing me off with the current pandemic. The Doctors at hospital said he couldn't feel a mass but could feel intestines, which I found odd because I can feel an obvious lump about 3 cm long like a sausage shape which is hard and I wasn't aware you could feel intestines by lightly pressing on your abdomen? He's referred me on a 2week wait cancer referral path as has suggested in the current pandemic this is the only way I will get the tests I need, just hearing those words sent me into a spin and now I'm sat here feeling rubbish from my symptoms and also worrying myself sick of what this might be. I have health anxiety around this because my mother passed away of duodenum cancer.

  • Hi Mazey,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your worries, and also about your mother.

I know it's not easy when there is this uncertainty and waiting for information. However it's good that you've been referred as it will mean you have answers soon, and hopefully that will help.

Try to keep your mind off things and to keep busy until your appointment. This can be easier said than done but it usually helps.

I hope it's not too long to wait for your appointment.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
