Is This Normal?

Hi, I am a teen, and I have been constantly stressing about my lymph nodes. I am going to keep this short, I woke up one morning with a sore groin and I felt around but my lymph nodes were fine but I noticed on my right groin there is a small gland that is bean-shaped and as I said I can feel it well and it is moveable, but i cannot feel the same gland on the other side. I am asking if glands are always even and if it sounds serious. I am having a lot of anxiety ang googling, so any reply would help on whether it sounds normal or get it checked out. Thank you

  • I just thought I would reply to you as you seem so concerned.  Now when I was a teenanger I would not have known what a lymph node was and because we didn't have google I couldn't have looked my symptoms up.  It seems because there is so much knowledge available at the click if a button, and not always what you want to here, that young people are far more anxious about their health.  Things are never completely symmetrical in our bodies and as you grow changes occur naturally.  No one can second guess what it is that you feel, it needs to be seen by a GP who will be able to reassure you or refer you if it needs further investigation.  But you are young and healthy otherwise so stress can make matters worse.  Ring your GP they are still seeing patients and let's get your mind put at rest.  Good luck with a healthy future.  Carol x

  • Thank you so much for the reply, It has been really bothering me, even though it is small it was just irritating me that i could not feel anything on the opposite so I started looking up on google. Im not surprised it tells me the worst case scenario but in truth, I dont even know if it is swollen but it seems small. I just cannot bare the thought of being sick and it's causing a lot of anxiety. I will try not to google anymore and I will ring my GP.

    I appreciate your reply,
