Throat lump

I am just after some advice regarding a medical issue or to contact someone with the same experience. I found a solid mass in the front of my throat approx 4 weeks ago, im female aged 35 years old 5.6" and around 11 stone in weight. With the issues of corona virus i have been unable to secure a doctors appointment and am wondering if this may be something i need checking rapidly at urgent care or the local walk in centre instead? It has grown steadily and i have started to choke when eating, (my breathing is not affected at the moment) and my voice keeps going hoarse and my daughter has noticed the change as she keeps telling me to cough. I have no pain in or around the area and haven't noticed any other symptoms. Can i please get some thoughts as to what this could be? Thank you so much, Kim

  • Hello Frankie83,

I am so sorry you are having trouble securing a doctor's appointment at the moment. Perhaps you could try to ring 111 over the weekend and asking them what the best thing to do in your situation would be? It is indeed worrying if this is affecting your eating and making you choke so it would be good to talk to someone about it as soon as you can. Perhaps you could also try your GP again and mention that you have started to choke when eating and that this lump has been growing steadily.

I hope you manage to get this looked at very soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Lucie,

Thank you so much for replying I appreciate it. Unfortunately I am still trying to secure an appointment with the doctor however I was wondering about the walk in centre in the meantime but (I know you can't diagnose) I don't want to take up time that somebody else could use if it is not a serious or time dependent problem. Would you advise I keep trying with my doctor or attend the health Centre?

    Thanks again

    Kim

  • Sorry I have just read your message again it took a minute to sink in but I will try 111

    Thank you
