Bowel surgery

Hi all,I'm new to the site! My dad was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer that has spread to his liver (only a little bit apparantly) They originally thought it was on his perineum but now think that it could just be inflamed( they will be doing a biopsy to check). Due to a blockage in the bowel and the pain and discomfort my dad is in, he was told that they would do an operation where they bypassed the blockage and he would need a temporary colostomy/ilesotomy bag and then would start chemotherapy. He had the pre op assessment and was told he would be having the surgery that week( this was 2 weeks ago) The surgery didn't happen due to lack of anesthetists (presumably due to covid 19) and after alot of ringing dad was told he would hear back about a new date within 2 days, that was well over a week ago. The chemotherapy people have since rang about dad starting treatment and dad had to inform them about this op he is waiting for( as he was told that blockage could potentially burst). I have read that he may have to wait 6-8 weeks after the operation to start the chemo! This seems like a very long time to wait and he doesn't even have a date for surgery yet! it feels very frustrating at the moment with all the waiting around and knowing the cancer is still there and potentially spreading.I'm thinking should we look into private treatment or ask about radiotherapy? (as that was mentioned at one point) Thank you in advance for any thoughts/ opinions. Sophie x
