Swollen lymph node after breast cancer treatment

hello, I was diagnosed with breast cancer last May, I had surgery last June, I finished my chemotherapy treatment 3 months ago & finshed radiotherapy 7 weeks ago and I am currently taking Letrazole.  I found a very small fleshy mound under my armpit on the same side , saw my consultant 2 days ago and had a mammogram, ultra sound scan & a biopsy & she told me it was a swollen lymph node. I have to wait 2 weeks for my results. The waiting is awful & I am petrified of the results... I forgot to mention I had one lymph node removed & further axillary node clearance was negative when I had my surgery .

my consultant did mention I would be very unlucky if it was cancer and I am holding onto those words.

has anyone had this before ?

  • Hello Flowers2020,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment and it's normal to feel anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
