Covid29

I have real anxiety about my health, I had breast cancer in 2006 (lumpectomy and radiotherapy )

in 2018 had mastectomy and chemo , three affected lymph nodes but 29 removed

im doing well and taking 2.5mg letrazole

however I received a letter during the covid 19 situation of being highly vulnerable , I don't know why and it's making me very scared

  • Hi,

Firstly just want to say how hapoy I am that you came through your journey and you are doing well.

So I had to answer as I came across someone asking the same thing and were in a similar situation to you. The reason is that you may well appear on a database and so the government are just taking extra precautions. Honestly, I would not worry about it at all.

    Xx

  • Hi,

If you feel anxious about this phone your GP or named cancer nurse. They will be in a good position to offer advice based on your up to date information. I’m no expert but Letrazole may inhibit your immune system and leave you vulnerable to infection in general. A GP recently said that if you qualify for free flu jabs, you should probably be shielding as a sensible precaution.

Starjo is right, almost everyone with a history of cancer who is currently on chemo is automatically receiving these letters as a precaution. At the Trust where I’m working, several members of staff received the same letters in error as they have been in remission for years and not currently taking medication.

    Best wishes
