Marble size lump on top of my son's tongue with white puss?

I'm very concerned with the way we have been treated so far. I took my 7 year old son to A&E after finding out he had a huge lump on top of his tongue looks exactly like a tonsil with white patches inside it but it was right on top of his tongue.  Due to so many possible coronavirus patients we weren't priority, got seen just to be told they don't know what it is, go to a doctor.

I called up to book an appointment with the doctor the next day, to be told I can't go in the surgery so ill have a doctor call me. He called me, I tried to explain what it was my son has and he didn't have clue what it could be and just prescribed amoxicillin antibiotics.

This looks serious and I know more should be done, has anyone heard of this before and what should I do next? I feel we are just being pushed aside.

He has no symptoms temp is fine breathing fine he's not eating much and is sleeping a lot more. He reckons he has had it a while but didnt tell me as his teacher thought it was his tonsil so she said it was tonsilitus and it was left at that and I wasn't informed.

Someone please give me an idea what to do.

Thank you.

  • Welcome to the forum xmontana93x although I'm sorry for the reason you're posting.

If you're still concerned you could try getting in touch with surgery again and see if it's possible to speak to a different GP to get a second opinion.

You could try contacting the NHS on 111 to get their thoughts and advice on this as well.

No doubt this is a stressful situation but hopefully you'll get some answers soon.
