Hard Growth on the low right side on the back of my head

Five months prior I lost first my complete taste than my smell. I started to feel exhausted and got more headaches over time. then three months ago I went into the hospital via the A&E with severe icepick headache, double vision, dizziness and vomiting. I had an MRI & CT than a lumbar puncture to release the pressure on my brain as it was very high. I was then put on a high intravenous antibiotic for 72 hours as there was inflammation in my body somewhere I was told. The Neurologist diagnosed me with migraine even though I suffered from migraines all my life and said that my migraines had changed over time. The Medical team had no answers for me at all even after doing daily blood work telling me that I had an infection in the body but they could not pinpoint where it is. Since I left the hospital I have several blood counts done and every time the same result that there is an infection.

Now recently I started with memory loss and find it hard to concentrate. I got again severe headaches and found two hard lumps on the low left-hand side on the back of my head, they do not hurt however when pushed they give me an instant headache above the lumps. I have been to the doctor who ordered another blood test and put me yet on another oral antibiotic for two weeks only to tell me that my blood still showed an infection.

The doctor told me that she had referred me to a Neurosurgeon to look into it further as she believes that it may have to do with my brain but it was not her expertise.

I am now wondering what I should do as I am getting as mentioned before forgetful as well. Any suggestions are very much welcome, thank you.

  • Hi MonaMia,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you've been through a lot in trying to get answers - I can imagine this must be frustrating and perhaps unsettling.

You've done all the right things in terms of visits to the doctor, and now that you've got a referral to a different specialist then the only thing to really do is wait for that appointment and discuss it fully with them. You can make the most of this appointment by making a note of any and all symptoms you've noticed, along with the steps you've taken so far, and then covering this all with the specialist.

I hope it's not too much longer for you to wait for the appointment.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
