Radiologists and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Hello guys. Has anyone had radiotheraphy recently ? Are the radiologists wearing protective clothing? I have had surgery and chemo and soon to start radiotheraphy. Ironically I am more fearful of Covid19 than I have been of the cancer. Is anyone else feeling the same or am I being irrational !?

  • Hello Damson,

Welcome to Cancer Chat! I hope you won't mind but I have slightly changed your title to make it a little more explicit so that others who have been in a similar situation and had radiotherapy recently can share their experience with you and tell you whether their radiologists were wearing protective gear.

I can completely understand why you are feeling fearful at the moment it's totally normal and you are not being irrational at all. Perhaps if it reassures you, you could ring the radiotherapy department and ask them whether radiologists are wearing protective clothing? You can be totally honest with them and tell them how you are feeling and that it would reassure you to know whether radiologists are currently wearing PPE.

Feel free also to give our nurses a ring on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to answer questions you may have on this.

    Best wishes,
