Newly diagnosed

Hi

My husband had a biopsy yesterday and has had a bleed. We have just been told that it is stage 4 and he's unlikely to get treatment. 

I am totally shocked as we thought he had the biopsy to enable them to figure out what treatment he needed. I now wish he hadn't had it.

Really worried about him. They said if he doesn't improve in thd next week or so he will have palliative care.

I'm really hoping he can come home but will have to wait to see if ge improves. 

I just feel so shocked as yesterday I dropped him off thinking he would be home this afternoon but instead he's in intensive care. 

I was hoping to understand more about what to expect and what treatment he may be able to get.

       First off all welcome to the forum that no one wants to be in .

    I'm in the same situation as your husband,  I was diagnosed on dec 13th & it was one off the hardest things I've ever had to deal with being told you have a cup cancer , (cancer off unknown prime) & then trying to be brave over xmas then tell my twin girls who are 11yrs old broke my heart, we where told I have 8months to a year but I'm now receiving palliative care,  chemo every 3 weeks , so hopefully they can offer something similar to buy yous some more time , the McMillan nurses are fantastic & set up everything that you need & are really good to talk to  , especially at this time , 

    Make as much happy memories as you can spend as much time together as yous can & I hope everything works out well ,

    Thank you so much for your reply. I'm very sorry to hear what happened- I agree , making memories is the best plan. 

    I'm afraid we don't have a lot of time as they have said that it is unlikely he will receive any treatment for the cancer because of his age and the extent of the tumour which is disappointing beyond belief. 

    My best hope is that he can come home soon. He is out of intensive care and on the ward now and despite being very confused he appears calm so that's a blessing.
