  • Good morning Marley

i have just picked up you chat and I was looking for some advice. Just done my first round and I’m 4 days in and sooo ropey. Leg pains and lack of sleep terrible constipation. I want to get out of bed today and I have wobbly legs.

determined I’m not giving in but this is my first day I don’t want to getup. Bad eh!!!

i hope it sessions are going well I have 5 more to go ( hopefully not this bad).  If u cangvreply thanks for listening and I hope all goes well Uplift

  • Hi Uplift

The first chemo I had knocked me sideways, if u have a emergency number with your cancer team let them know the symptoms you have, found that really hard to do as not a person that seeks help alot, I had leg pains start at toes and works it way up to knee area, found that over  counter meds did not work, went to GP and they gave me pain killers, that helped but reacted with getting constipation, I tried deep heat rub it helped a bit, my second dose was lowered a bit, as was getting back pain from the epidural.

I found that you should ensure you drink alot of water, never been my forte, you eat fibre not my forte again, and do exercise not my forte again but found walking around the dining chairs worked lol I have just completed my 4th chemo out of 6 and dose got lowered which means though I still get pain it's not that bad and I took some overcounter meds last nite it worked. The constipation thing does my head in for sure, but keep with it there is a pattern least I found for me there is.

Every symptom make a note and let the cancer team know it will get better I went from 5 days of consistent pain to having this week 2 days of niggling pain which could be gone if i took meds. Constipation as them for laxative counter one is very much a bit and miss, also when I took them nearly ended up dehydrated, the ones I got had direuctics in them which helped alot.

Sorry didn't reply faster ..and it's long winded reply ...wish you the best and hope you don't be in pain as you are, it does get better
