What is a few months to live

My dad has been given "few months ths to live". He has primary bowel cancer, secondaries in liver and lungs. His diagnosis was 7 February 2020 but I'm sure he has lived with this 12 months previously. I can't process it coz its so fast and he is deteriorated in front of me.

I now need to think off what time i have with him but is a few months 3 or 6 or 12? Can anyone help?

    If you have your dad's permission it would be best to discuss this with his medical team as they will be in a better position to answer this and any other questions you may have, but our cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to talk things through with them as well.

    Many of our members know how difficult this time can be so I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Sorry to hear about your dad, my husband has been given the same diagnosis he had chemo which hasn't worked but they gave him a time scale of 3 to 6 months but it varies per person which is why they can't give an exact time scale.  Make the most of whatever time you have left with your dad . sx
