Hey ladies, been doing a bit of googling (not a good idea I know) just wondering how you all got on?
I've noticed most ladies have the LLETZ once they have results from their colposcopy/ biopsy. Mine was quite different
I'm 25 and had my first routine cervical screening back in November 2019, finally 4 months later (YES FOUR MONTHS *sigh*) I got the results
I rang the doctors yet again to see if the results were in, I was told they were but the doctor was going to take a look and ring me back... around an hour later I had a call back from the doctor explaining I had cell changes and had tested positive for HPV, was told to expect a letter with an appointment for a colposcopy but if I hadn't had one within 2 weeks to ring them back and they'd chance it up for me.. a few days later I received the results letter explaining my results came back with high grade (severe) dyskaryosis and testing positive for HPV.
Luckily I had a letter around a week after the initial call from the doctor .. the appointment was the day after I received the letter!
Before I even went in to the room for the colposcopy the doctor called me into the side room to ask routine questions and explained that for the type of changes I had the treatment would be LLETZ (Right there and then during the colposcopy!)
the LLETZ procedure wasn't as bad as I had imagined, sure enough the solution they put on brought up the abnormal cells around the opening to my cervix. He administered the local anaesthetic and got to work. Once he'd done he asked if I would like to see the end result, sure enough I said yes.... I was curious, wish I hadn't of said yes! It looked horrible!!
luckily I haven't had any bleeding or any pain after the first day .. but a lot of discharge as I was told would happen.
He told me a copy of the results would be sent in the post to both me and my doctors surgery within 4 weeks. That was a week ago so still waiting, I'm not entirely too worried as a lot of people say this is to detect early cell changes, NOT cancer.
