Very worried and scared

Hi All

I am so worried and going out of my mind. I had cramping and blood spotting after intercourse, the cramping lasted a few days and now I have blood in my urine and lower right side cramping.

I went to my GP who felt my abdomen and carried out an internal as well as referring me for bloods and an ultrasound.

The blood results came back normal which included the CA125. Last night I was out of mind with worry that I have something very sinsiter going on. I have been googling and made caused myself such anxiety I rang 111 in the early hours of the morning and got to see a GP who tested my urine which came back negative for a UTI and thinks there is nothing sinister and possibly bladder polyps as bloods all good, however I have convinced myself otherwise. I am just waiting for the appointment for the ultrasound.

So sorry for the ramblings.

Thank you for listening.

  • Dear Tracy,

It is very normal to worry when we don't know for sure what's wrong with us. You have to  try and look at the positives , blood tests, CA125 and UTI all clear, so hold on to these. It sounds like you have a good GP who is helping you but naturally further tests take time, so frustrating. Try and keep yourself busy with thinsg you enjoy if you can.

I do know what it is like to worry. I had a routine blood test in Jan and there were some issues with my liver and my cholesterol, following that my GP organised for me for a stomach ultra scan .

So all I can say to you is to concentrate of the positives re the results you've already had and be patient while waiting for further tests. Do anything to distract your negative thoughts and go out and meet family and friends. This is what I am doing.

    All the best,

  • Thank you for replying and giving me some encouragement to see the positives.

I am now waiting for the ultrasound referral and the results of the smear test. I have convinced myself that the smear test results will be abnormal. I spoke with the Nurse who reassured me regarding my blood results, however the symptoms I have been experiencing are out of the ordinary for me.

Thank you once again and hope your scan results were uneventful.
