Sent for Scan

Good Morning Ladies,

This is my first ever post and I don't really know where to begin.

I visited my GP as I hadn't had a period since November and home pregnancy tests were all negative so it definitely wasn't pregnancy related then in the last month I began to feel constantly exhausted and bloated and just full like I'd eaten a large meal constantly and I'm now eating a lot less than I have before, I also needed to start visiting the toilet more frequently, when I visited my GP he said my temperature was okay, but my heart rate was increased he then felt my stomach and lower back and said he couldn't feel any lumps but he would like to refer me for a scan, but if the symptoms increase or any new ones develop I need to be seen by a doctor asap, I'm hoping this is a precaution because my nan had ovarian cancer and her sister breast cancer.

Any words of support or guidance are fully appreciated.

  • I'm not an expert in any way but my personal experience is that even the tiniest concern the nhs react quickly.  My lump is huge and it's only about 4 weeks from my first GP visit to my op next Thursday. They truly don't hang around. I would be reassured that you're having a scan and who knows they might find your problems aren't cancer related and get it sorted. I'm less concerned with what's in the lump  I'm happy something is getting done. Also if you have to Google only Google 3 websites - nhs, cancer research and Macmillan. There's an awful lot of rubbish out there that's inaccurate. When we Google (and we all do) we're looking for the site that tells us we're fine but there isn't one so stick to the factual UK ones. Good luck with your scan I hope you get it all sorted xx

  • Thank you, good luck with your op and I hope all goes as well as can be! And yes your right about them reacting fast I saw my GP Tuesday and they contacted me today asking if I could go for my scan on the 24th of this month so fingers crossed! Xx
