Breast biopsy - waiting for my results

Hi all,

This is my first post but reading through other forums has already made me feel slightly better.

I felt a small lump in my right upper/inner breast just after Christmas and went to the doctors they couldn't feel anything so I left it a couple more weeks, I still felt it so was referred for a breast ultrasound, I went for it today and the doctor saw it straight away and took 3 biopsy's, I've been told I will have a appointment in 2 weeks to discuss the results. But it could just be Fibroadenomas, is it possible just to have the one lump?

I'm so worried, I'm 27 in the process of buying a house and am getting married next year. I can't help but think the worst, I'm not sure how I'm going to get through 2 weeks.

Has anyone here been in the same situation recently and had good news at the results appointment?

Thank you x

  • Jolamine,

your kind words and the other lovelies on this forum really reassured me. The NHS is such a wonderful service and under such pressure these days with everything and everyone being a number. However the like of the lovely people I have met through this short but very positive journey has given me faith in all aspects including the NHS. I will still be on here as I would love to hear from all you ladies and how everything goes for you

    xx

    Hi Spookcat,

This is great news. I hope that your biopsy goes well next Friday and that you won't need any surgery.

  • Hi all,

just wanted to pop on to let you know I finally received a letter from the hospital about my results!

it read only benign changes where found and they will assess me in a few weeks, so good news!

the last couple weeks have been hard! The first week I was just in bits and by the second I had buried it in the back of my mind, then the last few days every lump or bump I found on my body my heart stopped, getting this letter has given me so much relief but I will honestly never forget that worry I had and I don't think it will ever go completely.

look after yourselves ladies, sending you all lots of love and I hope you and your families are keeping safe during this uncertain time with the virus.

  • Hi

I had a small lump.in my right breast and totally ignored it...had pain in the nipple like you wouldnt believe i thought i had mastitis so went off to the doctors, he referred me and after ultrasound and biopsy came back as benign changes in the breast.

Pain in the nipple came back 5 months later referred back to hospital and again ultrasound and biopsy,

Came back as high grade DCIS. Had a mri and they found other stuff in both breasts so just waiting for more biopsies and scans.

What I'm trying to say is the lump i was scared of turned out to be nothing and the pain I thought was nothing turned out to be more sinister.

I know it's really hard because it's always in the back of your mind and it seems like an eternity to wait but try to not worry until you have something to worry about x

  • Hi [@Jolamine]‍

I have sent you a friend request but hijacking this one as I can't find a thread you were on, started a new one but no replies, and no time to think

I was diagnosed Triple neg grade 3 IDC on 2nd March. Straight off asked for double mastectomy as I'd seen your posts but surgeon convinced me early stage, no lymph nodes...chemo first then lumpectomy then radiotherapy. I saw oncologist Friday we talked about COVID and I said let's just stick to the plan. She rang me Sunday to say no chemo due to COVID risk and surgery first.

The surgeon rang today said surgery within a fortnight, mastectomy, no chemo due to COVID but sentinel biopsy. I said oh not lumpectomy and she said she'd consider it but...lump is 35mm...don't even know why I asked, you can see the lump it's that big!

I ended up saying just do what you need to, don't want to stress her any more, as it's chaos right now. Won't believe I'll get surgery til I get into theatre. What do you think? Mastectomy good recovery? Less likely to recur? Any wisdom would be great. House is ready for chemo not surgery
