Bleeding on the POP (mini pill)

Hi all,

I know its probably a little odd to be posting here but it seems there are quite a few people asking similar questions and receiving some good answers. so here goes.

i have seen alot of ladies on here having issues with the COC (combined pill) and the POP (mini pill), i have tried going to my GP, very similar to the masses but he has no idea what to do.

i have been on the mini pill for around 5-6 years now and ive not had any problems, it was brilliant!

then all of a sudden ive started getting my periods again! pain in my lower abdomen, feeling sick, breast tenderness and even a lump that i got examined. obviously i went on google to have a look at my symptoms and there seems to be nothing. alot of the sites ive looked on tell me ive probably got some kind of cancer or cyst, or even fluid in the uterus. but when i go to the doctors they tell me to just keep taking the pill as usual, like theyre brushing me off!

if i stop the pill ill get my periods back which were long and very painful and heavy (cost me an arm and a leg in sanitary products), so do i stop taking the pill and see if it helps or keep taking the pill like my doctor said?

(baring in mind my doctor sent me for a ultasound when i was bleeding from my rear end after a colonoscopy(sorry tmi), and hes prescribed me ibuprofen when i cant have it due to my ibs. i dont trust my doctor)

can anyone help? or has anypoe had a similar experiance on the desogesterel mini pill?

Thanks

  • Hello Youngling
I'm sorry to hear that you're having some ongoing health problems at the moment. Is there another GP at your surgery that you're able to make an appointment to see about the issues you've mentioned and your concerns?

Unfortunatley Google won't give you any definitive answers about what is causing the problem but it will increase your anxiety around things so if you can avoid searching online this will help.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
