Help dealing with kids

Hi all

I am looking for advice on how to help my kids.  My ex husband has been diagnosed with stage 3 tonsil cancer, and is begining treatment.  I have three kids and wondered if anyone has any advice with how to help them through this.  My eldest is not sure how she feels as her relationship with her father is not the best as his new wife has banned her from their house and she doesn't see him often.  My Son is refusing to talk about it in case he gets upset and my youngest is crying a lot.

I am hoping someone could give me ways to help each of them through the coming months

Thanks

  • Hello Rob3711,

First of all I am sorry to hear that you ex-husband has been diagnosed with Stage 3 tonsil cancer. You must be incredibly busy with three children at home and I can imagine that this news has destabilised you and your little ones. It can be hard to know what to say to children and to find the right words to talk to them about cancer. We have very useful information on our website on talking to children about cancer on this page.  I hope it will be useful to you but also that other parents who have been in a similar situation to you before and have had to talk to little ones about a loved one's cancer diagnosis will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,
