Breathing after radiotherapy

So my wife has had a mastectomy followed by chemo and radiotherapy, since radiotherapy she has had continuing issues breathing and catching a full deep breath. She just can't get one,  radiotherapy has been over for 7/8 months now and it's not improving.

She has had MRI, CT scans and nothing is showing up but now she gets very panicy about it and really down and fed up as she can't do anything without being out of breath.  With this she also gets pain through to her back.

Thoughts and ideas ? Anyone else suffered with this ?

  • Hello Madz666

I'm sorry to hear that your wife has had some problems with her breathing since her radiotherapy treatment finished. It sounds positive that the recent tests haven't shown any cause for the problem although that obviously doesn't help the situation.

If you're wife has not already seen a respiratory specialist for some advice then it may be worth asking your GP for a referral to see if they are able to help with any suggestions for improving things for her.

If you'd like to talk to one of our nurses then you're welcome to give them a call. They are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
