Dad died from Sepsis

Hi all

I am just home after my fathers funeral.  He died a month ago of neuro sepsis after a successful lung cancer op in which all was cleared

they decided to give Dad chemo as a mop up to get anything that may be left over (as cancer was found in the lymph node that was taken away)

I believe a number of doctors and professionals are to blame for this.  My father was otherwise very healthy and too young to not be here today.

  • Hello Moofymay,

l am so sorry to read of your obvious pain and distress,it is never easy losing your parent in any circumstances, and its only natural you are angry and shouting at the world, who wouldn't be.

l cannot comment on the treatment your father received but would say that Cancer is a hideous thing that invades your body and calls for exceptionally hard and debilitating treatment to overcome it, weakening your body and immune systems and the ability to fight off subsequent infections.

If the cancer had been found in a lymph node then it had already discovered the means with which to spread around his body,so chemo seems a logical response

l have yet to meet a Doctor or professional in cancer care that does not give their absolute all for the patients they fight to give a future too,and do this in the face of a relentless adversary with a professionalism and good grace that many of us would be hard pressed to match

l understand fully your need to lash out and that your emotions are all very raw at present and l hope that as time goes on you will be able to come to terms with events,it will not be easy,it never is,losing those you love is beyond everything

l hope and pray that the medical profession and the sponsers of this site in particular carry on their great work in defeating the real enemy and life destroyer that is cancer,

hard but try to be kind to yourself,

                                                                                                                                                         David
