3.2cm liver lesion found with ultrasound

Hi. I'm 45 years old and I've just been told yesterday that a lesion has been found on my liver. I've now got a hospital appointmnet with the gastric department in two days time. I have quite a bit of discomfort in my abdomen but no other symptoms. I'm so very worried about the diagnosis and prognosis. It sounds like a cliche, but you really never believe that these things can actually happen to you.

I'd really like to hear from anyone out there who is experiencing anything similar.

  • That's dreadful! Poor you. I can't believe they can do this to people. The stress is unbearable. I would see it as a good sign it's nothing urgent though.

Im doing ok  just stressed at the lack of information or anyone to speak to. I guess we just have to keep waiting...

  • You take care. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Maybe it's a good sign for you too and it's therefore not urgent.

    Hoping so.....

  • Hi how are you getting on? Have you heard anything yet?
I've got another scan booked next week so the waiting continues.
    Hope alls good with you?

  • Hi,

Oh no. More waiting. How come you're having another scan? You must be getting sick of waiting - me too.

I called the consultants secretary today and she said that my results will be sent tomorrow apparently and that i can call her back on Friday for info. Lools like i should get some information this week.

At the same time I hope I get some info I also don't want to know if it's anything too bad. I've got quite used to burying  my head in the sand these last few days!

  • Hi sorry for long delays in replying. My phone / internet seem to have gone mad!

It sounds promising if they still haven't got your results. There must be a fast track procedure if they're bad .

I know what you mean about not wanting to know. I wish it would all go away.

Im having a nuclear scan to see if what's in my liver is connected to adrenal gland. But again this was requested before the MRI was done so I really don't know what's going on.

Good  luck for tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you.

  • Hi,

I have finally had some news. The consultant's secretary was able to let me know that the mri scans show nothing to be concerned about. My consultant will be sending a letter so I'll know more info then. I'm also going to a pre-booked appt at the Drs this afternoon so she may be able to give me more details. I suspect we can now see what the lesion actually is on my liver and look into my gastric problems. I'm sort of hoping it's an hemangioma that's pressing onto my stomach. That would be a  easier option. Either way, it's a huge relief to know it's nothing sinister.

I hope you find out some more info soon. Maybe see if you can call nd chase up more info? The waiting is really tough so I hope you don't have to wait much longer. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I just wanted to let you know just how much of a comfort it's been to message someone who is going through a similar experience. It really has helped an awful lot so I just wanted to say thanks so much.

Please keep in touch and let me know how you get on. X

  • That's such brilliant news. I'm so pleased for you. And the waiting is finally over. Hope you're celebrating?!

Im no further on. A dr called me yesterday to say she really didn't know if my liver was secondary cancer or not and "I'd have to wait and see". She also said she has now referred me to a different hospital and they'll take over. So I don't even have anyone to contact! I've been prescribed pills to lower my blood pressure (which has never been high?!) and they're making me feel truly awful. Hopefully next week will be better.

thank you for your kind words. The same to you. It's so much easier to talk to someone in the same position who understands. X

  • Thank you. Yes, I've been celebrating! They will probably do a biopsy etc but I'm ok with that.

I can't believe you have been moved on and have no contact. I hope you are able to stay positive despite these unnecessary obstacles. I hope you are doing ok. Please let me know how you get on x

  • Hi,

How are things? Been thinking about you and hope you're doing ok x

  • Hi. How are you doing? Are you ok?
