3.2cm liver lesion found with ultrasound

Hi. I'm 45 years old and I've just been told yesterday that a lesion has been found on my liver. I've now got a hospital appointmnet with the gastric department in two days time. I have quite a bit of discomfort in my abdomen but no other symptoms. I'm so very worried about the diagnosis and prognosis. It sounds like a cliche, but you really never believe that these things can actually happen to you.

I'd really like to hear from anyone out there who is experiencing anything similar.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through.

The same thing has just happened to me. I'm also 45 years old. Went for an ultrasound today and apparently  there's a 2cm legion on my liver. There is also a 3cm one on my adrenal glands.  I was told a report had been sent to my dr and I must speak to them urgently. He called at 6.30 to say he was arranging a CT scan for Monday. I have no liver symptoms and blood tests for full blood count, liver function etc are fine. I do have symptoms of an adrenal tumour however. I'm so worried it's malignant and spread to my liver.
The waiting is the worst part.

  • Hi,

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's all so worrying.

The doctor told me that they hadn't found anything else on the scan and that my liver function results were normal. I have, however, got a lot of discomfort in my abdomen and i have little appetite and do generally feel unwell. We were initially looking at the possibility of a stomach ulcer but the h pylori test came back negative. I have read that you can have a negative result but still have an ulcer though. I'm hoping so much that the symptoms i am experiencing are from an ulcer and that my lesion is simply benign.

It's just so terrifying. I can think of little else day and night. You are right that the waiting is very difficult. We will both hopefully know more on Monday. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us. Please feel free to message back anytime. Your response made me feel less alone in this.

    Take care.

  • Hi

I'm not doing that well. I was called for an MRI scan and more blood tests on Friday as apparently the CT didn't show as much as they wanted? I can only think the CT must have shown something else for the MRI scan to be needed... but I just have to wait again.

hows everything with you? Do you have an appointment for your scan yet?

  • Oh I'm sorry to hear that. I hope everything will be ok. Have they given you any more information?

The waiting is tough. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I haven't heard anything yet. I'll need to be seen sometime this coming week otherwise I'll have exceeded the two week target. Hopefully I'll be contacted this week.

  • Hi how are you getting on? Fingers crossed you get an appointment soon. The waiting is so hard.
Ive spent a lot of the weekend feeling awful with a cold just to add to things. I think it's because I'm so stressed and run down.
Please let me know as soon as you hear anything. Try not to worry. Thinking of you.

  • Hi. I've had a phone call to let me know I'm having an mri scan this evening.

How are you doing? Hope you're ok

  • Good luck this evening. Fingers crossed for you. Please let me know how it goes.

  • Hi. Thanks for your message. I only got home late. I was on the scanner for an hour! I also had some liquid injected into me to show my organs/liver a lot clearer. They said i should hear something this week.

How are you doing? Is your cold any better? Like you said you're probably run down with everything going on. Hope you're doing ok? Let me know if you hear anything. As usual I'll have my fingers crossed for you (and me!)

    Take care

  • I think I'm heading for a sleepless night tonight. I've managed to be ok for the last few days but it's frightening to get a step closer. I know that they're definitely going to find something as I have pretty constant discomfort. I can only hope that it's not serious and it can be treated, whatever it is.

    It's just so terrifying.

    Hope you're doing ok

  • Hi. How are you doing? Hope you're ok

  • Hi. I'm doing ok. Just trying to keep busy as I'm feeling a bit better today.. from the cold not the stress!

Waiting is so hard. How are you doing? Have you heard anything?
