Triple negative breast cancer

My best friend is currently going through this. I really hope the stats are with her. Not against her. Please is anyone here not had to deal with a secondary? Anyone had an all clear an stayed clear? I wish you all the best in fighting this beast x love to you all.

  • Hello Poppabear2014
I'm sorry to hear about your friend's diagnosis. It sounds as though she is lucky to have you supporting her.

We do have an active thread with a number of ladies who have TNBC here which you might find interesting to have a read through. If you wanted to post a message I'm sure that some of them would be happy to share their expeiences with you.

We also have some information about TNBC on our website which I've linked for you and if you'd like to speak to one of our team of nurses about things then you can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

Best wishes to you and your friend

  • I was diagnosed with grade 3 Triple Negative Breast cancer on March 2nd 2016.

On Monday I will celebrate 4 years since diagnosis and and no further issues.

I had bilateral mastectomies and 6 months of chemo with a years rest and then DIEP reconstruction which took another 18 months to complete.

I am always aware that cancer could return and I find this time of year especially difficult as my diagnosis, Birthday and surgery all occurred within a 10 day period.

I am grateful to the brilliant surgeons, radiographers, nurses and staff that I have met along my journey and am now trying to come to terms with the body that I now have and the problems I am left with following treatment. I have Lymphoedema, pain across my chest and ribs and Bile acid malabsorption causing severe bowel issues. My gall bladder was removed due to stones a year ago and BAM is dragging me down more than anything else at present.

Triple Negative Breast cancer is a scary diagnosis and the journey through treatment is not easy but there is life after, albeit a very different one.
