Anal cancer

I am currently into week 4 of Chemoradiation for Anal Cancer and this is my first post, so "Hello"

It is becoming a struggle now with so many side effects and wondered if any one can advise what lotions and potions are suitable (and work) for Radiotherapy burns to this very delicate area! 

The Radiotherapy team have given me Hydrogel but not helping much. I also have 100% natural Aloe Vera Gel which is quite effective.

    And welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to read about the discomfort you're going through

    Sorry to hear you have been having a bad time with your treatment

    I got diagnosed in August 2019 with anal cancer and had 5an half weeks of chemo an radiotherapy and became very sore my lovely oncologist nurse gave me drapolene cream and instillagel which has local anaesthetic in it mix both together in a little pot an rub that all over your sore bits really helped me plus wear men's boxer shorts so much more comfy hope that helps you good luck,I am having my first scan tomorrow to see if the treatment has worked

    I too am just going into week 4 of my radiation and wondered if you managed to find anything that did work for the soreness?

    Any help and advice would really be appreciated

    ask them or your Dr to prescribe poly mem foam dressing. you sprinkle a little bit of water on it and it's an absolute godsend. I had anal cancer in 2015 and the nurse snook me a roll and said they don't like giving it out as it's expensive. when I did ask for it they gave me a few slices and not a roll but my Dr. kept prescribing it for me. it's absolutely brilliant stuff
