Post Diep Flap

Hi, I'm currently day 3 post double reconstruction and just wanted any tips or advice on my recovery.I have very numb fingers still and although the right hand is improving,I feel very low and in discomfort with it.Exercise and massage have helped at times but will this go soon?Surgeons said it is from the position you are in for a long time and I was never advised this might happen.

any help great fully received

  • Hi

i has a Diep, single reconstruction in October. I also ended up with numb fingers, partly because of chemo but partly because of the op. It should ease over time. You've been through a major op, your body needs time to adjust and recover.
hope your recovery is going well.

  • Thankyou WL for your reply.I have had Chemo but my numbness was my feet but that has gone now.I am trying to not moan so much and each finger hurts a getting easier..I think I'm recovering ok.Just takes time and a lot of patience

  • Hey

I still have numbness in my feet from chemo, tips of my toes and my heels. Recovery for me was frustrating as I wanted to go faster than my body would let me. Make sure you do the exercises that the physio give you, I still have a numb tummy, numb breast and at the top of my arms. I've just finished radiotherapy so that's knocked me back again. Are you still in hospital?

  • The neuropathy in my feet eased off when I started radiotherapy last April,I started chemo sept 18 and finished jan 19.This time a reoccurrence in November 19.I am in hospital still.Bored and fed up.I feel the same as you did and feel I should be better then i am.Was a big op but I keep forgetting that.Just rest up and sleep when you need to.For me radiotherapy, although mentally tiring was the easier part of this *** journey.Stay strong
