Hi i am 48 in a few weeks. I am in Scotland. 2 weeks ago I suddenly had pain in my left breast nipple area very sore for a few days I have been hitting the gym a lot over january so assumed it was from friction but after 2 days I went to the doctors as wasnt getting any better. Doctor wasnt sure what it was said it was maybe an infection so gave me antibiotics asked if any disharge but I had none. Told to come back a week later if they didnt work. The day after I started getting discharge (typical) which at one point had blood in it which freaked me out a bit so I went back to doctors again. Told to take a swab and keep my appointment on the monday. Couldnt get a swab as the discharge just stopped only lasted one full day ? By monday the pain had settled a lot and the swelling went down but then I found a lump. Doctor immediately referred me to the breast clinic. She said hand on heart she has no idea if it was a good or bad lump but had to get it checked. Cannot fault her at all. This was monday 3rd February I received my appointment through on friday 7th February so was very quick which my husband and I are relieved about as was demented waiting on that coming through!
My appointment is a week tomorrow (17th) for a mammogram then on wednesday (19th) a 3 hour appointment at the breast clinic.
Obviously heads all over the place right now like everyone else in this situation. I know someone else who's still waiting on an appointment who was referred before me so that's got me worried more thinking is mines more suspicious then
Anyway What can I expect on the Wednesday will I be given all the results then ? Or is it just more tests then more waiting it's the waiting that's driving me nuts I just want to know what's wrong so I can deal with it.
I haven't told ny children yet they are 26,23 and 12 youngest still at home dont want to worry them for nothing.
Feel like life is on hold right now till we know what we are dealing with husband got very upset and was shocked when I gor referred he just thought it was a simple infection. I knew I would get referred. His mum has had breast cancer so he has seen what it can do to a family but shes fine now it's all gone thank god.
Thanks for listening xx
