Anyone been on trials for oesophageal cancer?

Hi my husband was diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer (spread to the liver) back in 2018 and was given a year to live, after 18 weeks of chemo then chemoradiotherapy in April 2019 there was no visible sign of cancer on the scans. In Nov 2019 we were told that the cancer was back but not in the oesophagus but in the liver, it has also spread to a few other parts of the body now. He is back in chemo and the doctor said that the next action would be a trial. Had anybody been on or is anybody on a trial now for this type of cancer and if so was it successful? It would be interesting to hear first hand from people about these trials. Thanks

  • Hi Bailey and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry that your husband's cancer is back and has spread. This must be very difficult for you both but we'll have our fingers crossed the chemo manages to keep it at bay and the trial your husband goes on is successful.

Hopefully some of our members who have been on trials for this type of cancer will pop by soon to share their experiences with you but if you'd like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Best wishes to you both,
