Asbestos

Dear all, dont know if I am being paranoid but had an asbestos tank removed. The licenced company had to break the tank and remove from the loft and there was a bit of debris. They did hoover the area but my main concern is that they may have left some debris and dust. As I have hoovered the the area a number of times I seem to this paranoia that I have distributed this dust around the house. I assume that my fear is irrational though cant seem to sleep at night thinking abount contamination. Thanks D

  • Hello ParPar,

If you are unsure you were exposed to asbestos or are worried about the dust despite hoovering, I think it is advisable to contact your local council and speak to an asbestos officer who should be able to advise you further.

According to the Health and Safety Executive, short term exposure to asbestos will most likely have led to minimal exposure to fibres, and is very unlikely to have any long-term ill health effects. You can read more about this by clicking here

It's important to remember that most people have been exposed to low levels of asbestos, as it can be found in soil and air and yet few people become ill from it.

    Hope this helps!
