No time guarantee in Scotland ???????

Found a pea sized lump and altered appearance in breast  2nd Jan and went straight to the Dr as my mum has breast cancer and now has  metastatic cancer in her liver.

I was told a non- urgent appointment would be made and would be seen within 2/4 weeks. I checked after 3 weeks to be told I'm on waiting list and wait is 16/18 weeks. If I was urgent it would be 4/6 week wait.

I-returned  to drs who changed my referral to urgent. He was unaware of waiting time and said he had no control over it. He again said I would be seen within 2 week. Do they not listen at all?

I've  checked and England Wales and N Ireland have 2 week rule. Scotland it would seem are more medieval .

Is  anyone aware of this problem ?

  • Welcome to the forum nohappy although I'm sorry for the reason you're posting.

On our urgent referrals page just here it states that the two week time frame is, unfortunately, not applicable in Scotland.

I think we have a few members based in Scotland so hopefully some of them will be along for a chat soon but you're more than welcome to discuss this with our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
