Newly diagnosed breast cancer

Hi, I'm 32 and found a large lump in left breast about 8 weeks ago. I have had ultrasound and mammogram, when the consultant first felt the lump he said it felt like a cyst so had ultrasound and found large mass which they said looked like a cyst and the drained it and they sound they found a wart like growth and took a biopsy. At second appointment had to undergo a mammogram and further biopsy as advised they didn't get a large enough sample to test. Just had my 3rd appointment and they said that the fluid they drained had cancer cells and now being referred for ct scans and had blood tests. The waiting for the ct scan appointment is causing me even more anxiety and can't help thinking the worst outcome

  • Hey NT2487,

First thing: focus on the fact you are now on a pathway where things are being dealt with. Like, fast.

You're naturally going to think the worst outcome, that's protective human nature, but woah Nelly.....you can only deal with what you know, you can only live in the moment. Surround yourself with nice people, things, and experiences. Rest assured that if anything comes of it, it will be dealt with swiftly, and you will have support.

I understand it's a surreal and freaked out time, and you're a young woman with expectations of a long, healthy life, and suddenly your world's tilting upside down. The waiting is difficult, it makes you feel sick and anxious. Do not Google. That will just make you more anxious. On the day you get your results, you will feel a bit more in control, whatever the outcome, as the next step will become clearer.

Let us know how you get on. Everyone is cheering you on.

    Bev xx
