Waiting possible lymphoma

Hello. New member! Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems?

Bit of a background 30 and healthy. Had eczema as a kid but under control only flares up only certain foods stress.

About 4 ago noticed 4 large hard lymphnodes in my groin. Rock hard move a bit and don't cause any pain. Had a itch too which gave a horrible skin rash flare up. Had oral steroids and weeks of antibiotics. Skins fine and the lumps in groin are still up and hard. Decoded to visit the gp. She did a physical exam. And refereed me to the hematologist on a 2 week wait. But also a ultrasound to. So 2 weeks ago. I went and saw the consultant. She said their probsbly reactive but will order a biopsy and scan to make sure. Had ultrasound last week. But thry can't tell me the results as it's been passed on to the hematologist (she did mention something sbiut maybe being reactive not sure) and had my Ct scan with contrast last Friday. But I was told at the firdt appointment I would be getting a biopsy? I signed the consent form etc but nothing has been heard. Is this normal for a Ct scan before a biopsy? (The Ct scan was my neck groin stomach and throat)

I don't have many other symptoms just fatigue and a slight fever. Bloods came back fine and I don't jsve an infection. Just wondering how to deal with the wait? And do you reckon if the ultrasound was clear they would just cancel the biopsy before I am even booked in? The stress alone is making me feel worse!

So basically just wondering how after seeing the consultant your series of tests where? I am probsbly reading to much into it but..

Thanks

  • Hello Topo2 and welcome to our forum,

It might be worth getting in touch with your medical team and asking whether you still need to be booked in for a biopsy as you were told you would have one and even signed the consent form. So I think it would be a good idea to chase that and find out what the deal is. It's good news that your bloods have come back fine and you won't have an infection.

I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
